The first skates ever were invented by Belgian inventor Jean-Joseph Merlin in 1735. Although the skates were ‘inline’, it was the catalyst for what millions of people have grown to know and love today as roller skating. We chose the name as an homage to his ingenuity and creativity.

Von Merlin is creation of Mo Sanders aka "Quadzilla L.K., a life-long skater from the age of 7, with over 30 years of product development and design work for some of the biggest and well known brands in the industry. He felt there was a gap in the ‘rhythm & freestyle’ sector of skating that needed to be filled, as the products (specifically wheels) were not designed or formulated for the way modern creative 'style' skaters roll. For decades, skaters have utilized wheels that we're designed for basic recreational roller skating and figure skating.

Thats not us. We skate different.

Old wheels use old technology and we needed something for todays skaters. The right size, great rebound, fast and smooth roll with no effort. Thats what Von Merlin wheels do.
