The Von Merlin Story

The first skates ever were invented by Belgian inventor Jean-Joseph Merlin in 1735. Although the skates were ‘inline’, it was the catalyst for what millions of people have grown to know and love today as roller skating. We chose the name as an homage to his ingenuity and creativity.

Von Merlin is a collective of life-long roller skaters who felt there was a gap in the ‘rhythm & dance’ sector of skating that needed to be filled. The designs came out of decades of roller skating passion, practice and experience in all fields of skating.

The goal is to push the envelope on product development, not only for rhythm & dance skating but for recreational, park and derby skating too. Von Merlin will be working to introduce more wheels, boots and accessories as we advance into the future.
